L'attività pubblicistica di Heinrich von Kleist: il caso Phöbus. Ein Journal für die Kunst (1808)

Abstract

Riassunto: Il contributo indaga l’attività pubblicistica di Heinrich von Kleist, concentrandosi in particolare sul caso Phöbus. Ein Journal für die Kunst (1808), rivista letteraria che aveva preceduto i più noti Berliner Abendblätter (1810-1811) e che Kleist pubblicò in collaborazione con il teorico e diplomatico Adam Müller. Nei suoi pochi mesi di vita, Phöbus tenta di unire letteratura e arti figurative, ambendo a realizzare quell’ideale di ‘poesia universale progressiva’ tanto caro al Romanticismo. Tuttavia, la mancata collaborazione di nomi di spicco quali Goethe e Wieland, nonché questioni di ordine economico, condannano a un rapido fallimento questa rivista, che ha avuto il merito di ospitare le prime versioni di alcune delle più importanti opere di Kleist.

Abstract: This contribution investigates the journalistic activity of Heinrich von Kleist, with a particular focus on Phöbus. Ein Journal für die Kunst (1808), a literary journal that preceded the more famous Berliner Abendblätter (1810-1811) and which Kleist published in collaboration with the theorist and diplomat Adam Müller. During its brief existence, Phöbus attempted to unite literature and the visual arts in pursuit of the Romantic ideal of ‘progressive universal poetry’. However, the journal was doomed to rapid failure due to a lack of collaboration from prominent figures such as Goethe and Wieland, despite the fact that it had the merit of publishing the first editions of some of Kleist’s most important works.
