Intorno all’epistolario di Nievo

Abstract

Riassunto: L’esame dei tratti metaepistolari e degli aspetti testuali e tematici delle lettere ‘familiari’ di Nievo testimonia di una tonalità ludica, scherzosa, anche se non mancano esempi di regolarità scolastica. Se l’epistola familiare nieviana  - come luogo dell’io per definizione, o più spesso, di ostensione dell’io - sconfina verso il diario, o assume un gusto sentenzioso o pedagogico, ed ha un carattere spiccatamente orale, molti sono i tratti che ne fanno il preludio o l’accompagnamento dei modi dello scrittore d’invenzione. Descrittività, narratività ed espressività servono a coinvolgere l’interesse dell’interlocutore, e  molti destinatari emergono come veri e propri personaggi, anche se dalla massa apparentemente confessionale emerge anche un altro atteggiamento: non dichiarare ma al contrario nascondere se stesso.

Abstract: The analysis of the meta-epistolary features and of the textual and thematic aspects of Nievo’s ‘familiar’ letters is evidence of a ludic and playful tone, even if there are also some examples of school regularity. These letters, which are primarily the place where the self can be defined or, often, exhibited, stray towards the diary, or assume a sententious or pedagogical taste, and have a marked oral distinctive feature, but they also seem to be the prelude or accompaniment of the fiction writer.  Descriptions, narrativity and expressiveness are used in order to attract the interlocutor’s interest, and many addressees emerge as real characters, even if, from the seemingly confessional heap of letters, it is possible to distinguish another attitude, that is to say, not to declare, but on the contrary to hide the self.
