El ballet romántico en Madrid (1842-1853)

Abstract

Resumen: Entre 1842 y 1853 en Madrid se escenificaron grandes títulos del ballet romántico protagonizados por bailarines de primer orden como Marius Petipa, Marie Guy-Stéphan, Fanny Cerrito y Arthur Saint-Léon, entre otros. Esto demuestra la existencia de un repertorio de ballet común entre París, Londres e Italia y que, durante ese periodo, se representaron tanto en el Teatro del Circo como en el Teatro Real, espectáculos de calidad. Además, el ballet ocupó un lugar central en la vida escénica madrileña y su recepción fue similar a la de otras ciudades europeas.

Abstract: Between 1842 and 1853, in Madrid were staged great romantic ballet titles starring by lead dancers such as Marius Petipa, Marie Guy-Stéphan, Fanny Cerrito and Arthur Saint-Léon, among others. That shows the existence of a common ballet repertoire between Paris, London and Italy and, during that period, quality shows were performed at both the Circo Theatre and the Real Theatre. In addition, the ballet occupied a central place in Madrid’s scenic life and its reception was like in other European cities.
